The Hunky Bill’s story starts with a $10 bet in 1967. Bill Konyk wagered he could get a booth at the PNE and sell Ukrainian food — and that bet launched what became a 52-year tradition and one of the most recognized names in BC’s food scene.
Bill passed away in 2019 at age 88, but the family carries on his legacy with the same commitment to handmade potato and cheddar perogies that made Hunky Bill’s a household name. From the PNE to festivals across the Lower Mainland, the Konyk family has been feeding British Columbians for longer than most food trucks have existed.
